WEMA Supports Taiwan-based Taiwan Union Technology Corporation in Expanding Its Glue Mixing Production Line

2026-04-17 14:50:54 WUXI-TECO 0

With the rapid development of global AI, high-performance computing and 5G communications, demand for high-end electronic materials continues to rise. Taiwan Union Technology Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Taiwan Union"), a global leader in copper-clad laminate (CCL), is accelerating the expansion of its glue mixing production line at its manufacturing base in Taiwan. Against this backdrop, WEMA successfully supplied 68 Taiwan-made TS-certified explosion-proof motors for the reactors and completed professional compliance operations involving the closed-loop trade of "importing Taiwan-made motors into Mainland China → assembling them with reactor equipment → re-exporting to Taiwan", as well as TS certification procedures with the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). Key compliance aspects included Taiwan's TS explosion-proof certification regulations, as well as CCC and energy efficiency requirements for import into Mainland China.

Company Introduction

Taiwan Union Technology Corporation (Taiwan Union), founded in 1992 and headquartered in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, is a global leader in the manufacture of copper-clad laminates (CCL) and bond sheets. Its products are widely used in smartphones, servers, automotive electronics, network communication equipment, aerospace and other fields. The company holds a leading position in key technologies such as halogen-free environmentally friendly substrates, high heat resistance and low dielectric loss, making it a major supplier of high-end electronic materials worldwide. With the surge in demand for AI servers and 5G infrastructure, Taiwan Union has been continuously expanding production in recent years. As a core part of CCL production, its glue mixing line demands extremely high equipment stability and safety.

Project Description

For this project, WEMA provided supporting equipment for the expansion of Taiwan Union Technology Corporation's glue mixing production line in Taiwan, China. Targeting the explosion-proof motors required for the core equipment of this production line—the reactors—WEMA leveraged its over sixteen years of deep experience in the industrial drive sector to successfully secure the order, ultimately supplying 68 TECO AEUF model TS-certified explosion-proof motors as supporting equipment for the reactors.

All these motors were imported from Taiwan into Mainland China, delivered to the equipment manufacturer’s factory, where they were assembled into complete reactor units. After assembly, the complete reactor units were re-exported to Taiwan Union’s glue mixing production line site in Taiwan. This project involved a closed-loop trade process of “import – assembly – re-export”, covering the import into Mainland China, processing and re-export to Taiwan. Therefore, special customs clearance procedures such as exemption certificates for CCC and energy efficiency certifications were required. Additionally, since the reactors would be used in Taiwan, the explosion-proof motors assembled into the complete equipment had to meet Taiwan’s regulatory requirements for explosion-proof electrical devices and obtain TS certification from the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). The motors were all manufactured by TECO, which enjoys high brand recognition and reliability in the chemical and electronic materials industries.

Solution

To meet the high standards of the reactors in Taiwan Union’s glue mixing line, WEMA provided a customized technical solution and compliance customs clearance services.

  1. Technical Parameters:

The AEUF explosion-proof motors featured the following core characteristics:

    a) IE3 energy efficiency rating, meeting high-efficiency energy-saving requirements

    b) IP55 protection rating, suitable for the complex industrial environment of a glue mixing workshop

    c) Explosion-proof level: Ex d IIB T4 (BT4), ensuring safe operation in the glue mixing line

  2. Compliance & Customs Clearance:

Since the motors were imported from Taiwan into Mainland China, assembled into reactors by the equipment manufacturer and then re-exported to Taiwan, WEMA successfully applied for exemption certificates for CCC and energy efficiency certifications.

  3. Taiwan Explosion-Proof Certification:

The AEUF motors, produced by TECO Taiwan, had already obtained the TS Type Certification from the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

TECO MOTORS

Leveraging extensive experience in import/export operations, WEMA assisted the client in preparing the necessary documentation and promptly obtained the relevant certificates, effectively avoiding potential delays and holdups that could have occurred during customs inspection at the destination port.

Customer Value

The comprehensive solution provided by WEMA for Taiwan Union’s glue mixing line expansion created multiple values for the customer.

First, in terms of supply chain efficiency: Through early demand analysis and precise product selection, WEMA ensured that the 68 AEUF explosion-proof motors were delivered on time to the equipment manufacturer’s assembly line, guaranteeing the timely delivery of the complete reactor equipment and effectively matching the high-intensity pace of Taiwan Union’s production line expansion.

Second, in terms of compliance risk management: WEMA successfully assisted the customer in obtaining CCC and energy efficiency certification exemptions, significantly reducing the systemic costs and time burden in the import process, ensuring that the cross?strait closed?loop trade was completed efficiently and in full compliance.
